Police arrest two suspects in connection to Pointe-St-Charles double murder last year

Montreal police arrested two suspects in connection with the murders of two women from the same family almost a year ago in Pointe-Saint-Charles.

An 18-year-old, who was a minor at the time, and a 23-year-old are suspected in the shooting that happened in an apartment on Mullins Street in the Sud-Ouest borough on Dec. 15, 2022.

A 73-year old woman, a grandmother, was pronounced dead on scene, while a 22-year-old woman, a granddaughter, was rushed to hospital where she died of her injuries.

Police say the teen was arrested at Bordeaux prison, as he already detained, awaiting trial for his alleged participation in another double firearm murder committed a few months earlier in Montreal West. He is expected to appear in youth court on Wednesday to face new charges of first degree murder.

The second suspect was arrested in the LaSalle borough and will also be arraigned tomorrow.

The women were the 37th and 38th homicides in the city in 2022.
