Teen dies after being hit while crossing the street on a scooter in Montreal

A 14-year-old boy has died after being hit by a car while riding his electric scooter in the borough of Ahuntsic-Cartierville on Monday.

Montreal police (SPVM) say the incident occurred around 6:50 p.m. near the intersection of Lachapelle and Émile Nelligan Street.

The victim was heading east across Lachapelle Street and attempted to cross near the intersection.

“He was then allegedly hit by a vehicle that was traveling north,” said SPVM spokesperson Antony Dorelas.

The teenager was transported to hospital, and was pronounced dead on Tuesday.

The investigation is ongoing.
