A 55-year-old woman hit a Hydro-Québec pylon with her SUV Tuesday afternoon in Boucherville, on Montreal’s South Shore.

Longueuil police (SPAL) received a call to 911 after 4 p.m. about a collision on Route 132, near de Montbrun Street.

According to initial reports, the driver was on R-132, heading west, when she lost control of the vehicle. Police believe the woman had some sort of health issue before the crash.

The vehicle crossed the central median and all lanes heading east, before hitting the pylon.

Firefighters used the jaws of life to remove the 55-year-old from her vehicle – which was stuck under the pylon.

The driver was taken to hospital, and her life is not considered in danger.

Representatives from the Transport Ministry visited the site, while a Hydro-Québec team assessed the pylon.
