Woman in her 70s in critical condition after being hit by vehicle in Longueuil

A woman in her 70s is in the hospital after being hit by a vehicle on Friday evening in Longueuil.

The woman was crossing Chemin de Chambly around 7 p.m. when a motorist hit her near Jacques-Cartier Boulevard East.

“No element of a criminal nature has been raised so far in this event,” said Mélanie Mercille, spokesperson for the Longueuil police service (SPAL).

Collision reconstructionists were called to the scene to determine the exact circumstances of the collision. A lane on Chemin de Chambly was closed to traffic, in the direction of Saint-Hubert, while they analyzed the scene.

The victim was transported to a hospital as she continues to fight for her life.
