By News Staff

A man was stabbed on Friday morning at around 9 a.m. in Ahuntsic-Cartierville.

A passerby found the victim, in his 40s, on Fleury east, near Vianney Ave., and called 911.

When Montreal police (SPVM) arrived on the scene, they say the man was injured in the upper body with a sharp object.

He was transported to hospital, where his life was said to be in danger, but by 11:15 a.m. he had stabilized.

A large police operation was underway in the area to locate the suspect, who fled the scene, but just after 11 a.m. it ended – although there are still no arrests.

SPVM say that the motive for the attack remains unknown.

An investigation continues.
