Montreal police investigate jewellery store robbery in Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie

Montreal police (SPVM) are investigating a smash-and-grab robbery at a jewellery store in the Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie borough Thursday night.

Around 7:20 p.m., the SPVM received a 911 call regarding the incident in a business located on St-Hubert Street near Belanger Street.

According to information the SPVM obtained by witnesses, several suspects entered the store, used pepper spray and used blunt objects to break display cases.

“The suspects left on foot in a direction that remains unknown for the moment,” said SPVM spokesperson, Raphaël Bergeron.

“During the event, three people were in the business,” he added.

A man and a woman in their 40s were transported to hospital to be treated for exposure to pepper spray.

“The amount of the theft would be more than $5,000,” Bergeron told CityNews.

No arrests have been made so far, an investigation is ongoing.
