Man stabbed during altercation in Ville-Marie

Montreal police (SPVM) are investigating after a 28-year-old man was stabbed during a confrontation in the Ville-Marie borough early Saturday morning.
At approximately 4:50 a.m., officers patrolling near the intersection of Sainte-Catherine Street and Berger Street intervened in a fight between two men. Upon breaking up the altercation, they discovered that one of the individuals had sustained a stab wound to his upper body.
Montreal police say the victim was transported to the hospital, where he remains in stable condition and was conscious upon arrival.
A 37-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene and is expected to be questioned by investigators. Police have not yet determined the motive for the attack, and the nature of the relationship between the two men remains unclear.
The investigation is ongoing.
