A 46-year-old man was arrested Tuesday after Longueuil police (SPAL) say he deliberately drove towards a 44-year-old woman in Brossard, causing her leg injuries.
On Wednesday, Luigi Fragomele, was charged with four counts, including armed assault, and hit and run.
The incident happened around 12 p.m. near a business on Allard Street in Brossard, just a few metres form where he lives.
“Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver of a vehicle deliberately drove towards her. The driver, a 46-year-old man, was arrested on the spot and could face charges of assault with a weapon,” write SPAL on their Facebook page.
The victim was quickly attended to by emergency services and transported to hospital, where authorities do not fear for her life.
“The file will be transferred to the investigation division to determine the exact circumstances of this event,” explained police.
The woman is reportedly from the unhoused community, and it’s still unclear if there is a link between the victim and suspect.
The judge opposed Fragomele’s release Wednesday.
He remains detained until June 5 when he’s back in court for a bail hearing. The Crown has opposed his bail.
