3 people hospitalized in 2 early morning armed assaults: Montreal police

Montreal police are investigating a pair of armed assaults that left multiple people injured early Saturday morning.

Police say the first incident happened around 2 a.m., when they received multiple calls for an assault at a licensed establishment on Côte-des-Neiges Road near Barclay Avenue.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found two people — a 36-year-old man and a 48-year-old man. The 36-year-old was taken to a hospital after suffering from lower-body injuries sustained from a sharp object.

The 48-year-old was found unconscious and suffering from upper-body injuries sustained from a sharp object. The man was taken to hospital in critical condition.

Based on initial reports, police believe that a dispute happened at the establishment, which escalated, leading to the two men being injured.

The suspect fled the scene prior to police arriving.

The second incident happened around 3:50 a.m. when police received a call for an injured person in the Anjou Borough.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 24-year-old man suffering from upper-body injuries sustained from a sharp object.

The man was taken to hospital in critical condition.

Investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
