A Montreal man accused of threatening to kill a Jewish man and others earlier this month – in separate incidents – has been released from custody with conditions.
According to the charge sheet, 28-year-old Tamrabet Sid Ali allegedly uttered a threat to cause death or bodily harm to a man between Aug. 10-15 in Montreal.
A 23-second video of the purported interaction, posted to social media, shows a man telling a man wearing a kippah: “We will (expletive) kill you” and calling him an “(expletive) pig.”
A second video, also circulating online after it was shared by the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs, features what appears to be the same suspect – either during the same interaction at a different time, or an entirely different interaction.
Si Ali is also facing similar charges in connection with an incident on Aug. 9 involving two other victims.
The same charge sheet also alleges Si Ali criminally harassed a woman and her family, after which they “reasonably (feared) for her safety or the safety of anyone known to her,” between Aug. 10-15 in Montreal.
He was released from custody with conditions, including not being near or communicating with the people he is accused of harassing.
“We will continue to engage appropriately as this case advances,” CIJA wrote in its social media post. “We are please to see that an arrest came fast, thanks to our collaboration with our security partners.”
