Following the release of surveillance footage, Longueuil police (SPAL) say that they received more than 30 pieces of information regarding the newborn baby abandoned on the doorstep of a residence last weekend.
“Investigators are reviewing each piece of information and seeking to validate it,” the SPAL said on Friday morning.
The baby boy, born at approximately 34 weeks and with his umbilical cord still attached, was found around 11 p.m. Sunday after someone rang the doorbell of a home in the Vieux-Longueuil neighbourhood and left him outside.
The resident contacted 911, and the baby was taken to hospital in stable condition.
Since the discovery of the baby, authorities still have not been able to locate the child’s parents.
“The investigation is continuing to identify the baby’s parents, as well as the person who abandoned him on the doorstep of a residence on Bourgeoys Street,” the SPAL explained.
On Tuesday, police released surveillance footage showing a person walking on a sidewalk along a driveway, appearing to carry an infant. Investigators say the individual could be a witness or potentially connected to the case but have not confirmed their identity, age or gender.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Longueuil police at 450-463-7211.
