From Iran to Montreal to Miss Fitness World 2025

"I always felt that I shouldn't give up," says fitness model, social media influencer and entrepreneur Hannah Mehregan, who immigrated to Montreal from Iran and then was crowned Miss Fitness World International 2025. Fariha Naqvi-Mohamed reports.

For Hannah Mehregan, home has always been more than a place. It’s a feeling shaped by two worlds. Born and raised in Iran, she is now building her life in Montreal.

Mehregan’s journey is one of rediscovery, resilience, and belonging. One that includes the title of Miss Fitness World International Queen, Miami 2025.

The Persian fitness model says, “I moved to Canada in 2018, seven years ago, and I felt I was born again. But this time I have bills to pay.”

Moving to Montreal taught Mehregan many things, she says, “Being around family, friends, being loved, and you don’t feel that. After you lose it, you are a different person.”

The social media influencer explained, “It’s like a dream. Honestly, I represented Canada. And the girl that I was working with for my outfits, and like a size, she’s from Tunisia and she lives in Canada also. We were both representing Canada, and we weren’t born here. I really, really felt proud to do this because I think it’s not easy.”

Being crowned Miss Fitness World International in Miami was a long way from where she grew up.

Mehregan, the entrepreneur, says, “In Iran, literally you can’t create your own identity. It’s like parents tell you who you are and how you should behave, what you should dream and what you should do in your life. It’s not like you’re creating yourself. But for me, I felt deep down that I had something more to explore.

“It’s like a taboo. Like, we are not allowed to be a model, be a bikini model. It’s against the rules, it’s against the religion, it’s against the culture.”

“For like first two years, it was pretty difficult. I get a lot of judgments from my culture. Usually, people that are still there and they have a different perspective of the world.”

Mehregan decided to make Canada her home, but moving to the other side of the world on her own wasn’t easy.

She explains, “For sure, it was terrifying. Coming here, I don’t know anybody. I don’t have anyone here. I didn’t have any support from my family, too because they didn’t want me to leave. It’s terrifying. It’s like something that feels so down. You feel this is going to be your whole life. I always felt that I shouldn’t give up. I can’t give up.”

Mehregan is active on Instagram and TikTok.
