Residents were awakened by gunshots in Terrebonne

By The Canadian Press

Residents were awakened Saturday morning by gunshots in Terrebonne, in the Lanaudière region.

The Terrebonne/Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines/Bois-des-Fillion Police Department received several reports around 7 a.m. Saturday. Police officers went to a residence on Massawippi Street, which had been targeted by the gunshots.

An adult male was inside, but he was not injured, according to Captain Vincent Charbonneau, spokesperson for the municipal police force.

Few details were available immediately. For example, it is not known whether the occupants of the targeted house were known to the police.

“We are at the beginning of the investigation and this is information that we cannot disclose,” said Charbonneau, adding that the resident who was inside the house was cooperating with the police.

He was also unable to make any connections to previous events in the area.

Investigators and crime scene technicians from the Terrebonne police were sent to the scene. They had several people to interview.

“We have a scene on site that will be analyzed. We have a security perimeter to protect that scene (…) We have received several calls, and we will be interviewing several people in connection with this case in order to establish all the circumstances,” Charbonneau said in an interview.
