The lightning-caused power outage that affected Montreal-Trudeau airport was resolved, and systems were gradually being restored on Wednesday afternoon.
“Operations are gradually resuming,” a spokesperson for Aéroports de Montréal told CityNews shortly after 3:30 p.m.
“Passengers are still encouraged to check the status of their flight directly with their airline.”
Earlier in the afternoon, some IT systems were temporarily unavailable due to a nearby power outage in Dorval.
The issues began around 2 p.m. “Various areas of the airport,” were impacted, the ADM spokesperson had explained.
Some systems began coming back online by 3 p.m.
A traveller headed to Halifax told CityNews that boarding on several flights was delayed.
The power outage was caused after “lightning triggered protective equipment on the power transmission system,” a Hydro-Quebec spokesperson said.
