SQ arrests man after suspected murder in Huntingdon in Montérégie

Sûreté du Québec (SQ) is investigating a suspected murder in Huntingdon in the Montérégie region Sunday night.

Police say they received a 911 call around 9 p.m. reporting an altercation on Wellington Street.

Upon arrival, officers found a man, identified as 54-year-old Adam Aitkins, on the ground unresponsive with visible injuries. He was taken to hospital, where his death was confirmed.

SQ spokesperson Louis-Philippe Ruel said that a suspect, a man in his 30s, was arrested nearby shortly after. He was allegedly involved in the altercation.

He is expected to appear in court in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield. The charges will be determined by the Crown prosecutor.
