Alex Boissonneault becomes Quebec government’s director of communications

By Patrice Bergeron, The Canadian Press

Former PQ MNA Alex Boissonneault, defeated in Arthabaska in the Oct. 5th election, becomes the director of communications and spokesperson for Premier Paul St-Pierre Plamondon.

A government spokesperson confirmed the information Thursday morning.

Boissonneault was one of the rising stars of the small PQ team before it took power.

Elected in a by-election in Arthabaska in 2025 against Conservative Éric Duhaime, Boissonneault could aspire to the Holy Grail: his leader suggested during the last election campaign that he would obtain a ministerial post, but this was not enough to ensure his re-election and it was rather the Conservative candidate who won.

When approached leaving the Executive Council building on Wednesday afternoon, Boissonneault declined to confirm that he would be appointed to a new government position.
