Pie-X bridge, which links Laval and Montreal, will be closed from Jan. 3-11 for work. Drivers are asked to take Papineau-Leblanc bridge from Highway 19 during the closure

MONTREAL (CityNews) – Pie-IX bridge will be completely closed to traffic from Jan. 3 to Jan. 11 for necessary infrastructure work, the province announced.

Quebec’s transport ministry said it wanted to take advantage of the province-wide lockdown to maximize all work required to dismantle the bridge’s steel beams.

Complete closures on Route 125 are also expected in the coming weekends. That work will be confirmed later, said the ministry.

The road work would also be delayed if the weather does not cooperate.

During the closure of Pie-IX bridge – which connects Montreal’s East End to Laval – drivers are asked to take the Papineau-Leblanc bridge from Highway 19.
