Quebec firefighters heading to B.C. to help battle wildfires

By The Canadian Press

More than 100 firefighters from Quebec are due to arrive in B-C today to provide some support for the three-thousand, 193 personnel currently on the fire lines.

Meantime, a Canada-wide system already used for tsunami threats and Amber Alerts could be used to complement existing systems for issuing evacuation orders and other emergency information in B-C, as the province deals with hundreds of raging wildfires.

About 43-hundred properties are under evacuation orders, and nearly 18-thousand additional properties are under alert, meaning residents are warned to prepare to leave at a moment’s notice.
