Montreal Police (SPVM) arrested 14 people and seized more than a dozen firearms after a series of raids over the last eight days.
In a news release, the SPVM says 15 firearms were seized in five separate police operations starting Nov. 14.
Authorities explain that they responded to shots fired Nov. 14 on Gouin Blvd. west in Ahuntsic. Two suspects, 17 and 18 years old, were arrested at their residences and two handguns and ammunition were seized.
Three days later, three were searched in Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie and Ville-Marie boroughs, as well as in Vaudreuil-Dorion – drugs, a pistol and ammunition seized. Six people 24 to 41 years old were arrested.
That same day, a 36-year-old was arrested after seven searches in Lachine, St-Laurent, and St-Philippe. Seven long guns, a pistol, ammunition, a homemade silencer and other firearm parts were seized.
On Nov. 18, officers arrested three suspects ages 16, 21, and 27 in Riviere-des-Prairies-Pointe-aux-Trembles after a home invasion. Two firearms were found in the suspects’ vehicle.
Around three hours later, police report officers noted two suspicious people, 27 and 28, with loaded guns and a balaclava in Old Montreal. They were arrested.
Police say the public’s help was crucial in these arrests and seizures.
Au cours des derniers jours, une série d’opérations policières menées par le #SPVM a permis d’arrêter 14 suspects et de saisir un total de 15 armes à feu, dans différents secteurs de la métropole et de ses environs.
