Quebecers still in the dark, over 40,000 remain without power after last weekend’s storms

There are many Quebecers still in the dark after last Saturday’s violent storms. Hydro-Québec reporting 40,665 clients still off the grid as of 3 p.m. on Friday, approaching the one week mark.
The Laurentians, with 20,719 customers without electricity, Lanaudière at 9,585 and the Outaouais at 6,343.
Overnight some 7,000 clients lost power once more.
“I understand the patience of Hydro clients is being tested,” said Jonatan Julien, Quebec’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, in French on Friday, explaining that crews are working around the clock to restore power.

Hydro-Québec had said on Wednesday that they hoped to have the majority of clients reconnected by Thursday, but that some areas could take until at least Saturday.
