If you haven’t checked out the exhibit by young Indigenous artists at the Botanical Garden in Montreal – there’s still time.
The symposium features cultural traditions through contemporary art practices by 20 Indigenous artists from various communities in Quebec.
Paintings, photos and videos are showcased, alongside traditional items and practices.
“The story we want to weave is one that demonstrates our resiliency, and that shows how our art carries our traditional knowledge, our ties to the land, embodied knowledge and our experiences and identities as Indigenous peoples,” said the Youth Council of Native Montreal on their website. They organized the event at Botanical Garden’s First Nations Garden.
The symposium, runs until Saturday at 6pm – as part of celebrations for Indigenous History Month.
