A Montreal south shore man won the $70 million Lotto Max jackpot this week. A single winner for the multi-million dollar grand prize.
Marcel Lussier learned the news the day after the June 7 draw – as he checked his numbers online the next morning. He says he remained calm – and went to tell his wife.
He then signed the ticket and they hid it together – so they would remember where it was when they had to bring it to Loto‑Québec offices on Friday.
Lussier, a retired Hydro environmental engineer, says he always plans out what to do with his winnings, but this time he hadn’t. So, he went back to his previous lists and says he’ll continue some historical research work he started, write a book, maybe a script for a movie too – and continue some of his travels.
He also plans to give back in a big way – hoping to help build a center for the autistic community locally with the La Fondation Véro & Louis and rebuild Ukraine.
Explaining that he’s contacted a contractor to help put pre-fab homes for Ukrainians.
And Lussier isn’t the only big winner from this though – the depanneur where the ticket was sold will also collect one per cent worth of the winnings, $700,000.
