More than 200 monkeypox cases detected in Quebec

Quebec has confirmed 202 cases of monkeypox in the province as of June 27, according to the Ministry of Health.

The number of confirmed cases is up by 31 since June 20 – an increase of 18 per cent.

There have been 7,568 vaccine doses administered since May 27.

Monkeypox is a rare disease that comes from the same family of viruses that causes smallpox, which the World Health

Organization (WHO) declared eradicated around the globe in 1980.
