One woman dead in fatal collision on Highway 50 near Lachute, Thursday

A 25-year-old woman has died from her injuries after a head-on collision on Highway 50 near Lachute, in the Laurentians, Thursday evening.

The accident occurred around 5:45 p.m. On the westbound 50 near Brownsburg-Chatham when a small vehicle that veered from its lane collided with an oncoming pickup truck.

The driver of the car and their passenger were seriously injured and rushed to a hospital where the death of the passenger was later confirmed.

The 25-year-old driver also suffered serious injuries, but their life is not in danger.

The four passengers of the truck suffered only minor injuries.

Highway 50 was closed in both directions at the scene of the accident to allow investigators to determine the exact circumstances of the fatal collision
