Body found in garbage bin, Montreal police investigating suspicious death

By News Staff & Canadian Press

A grim discovery was made in a garbage bin in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve Monday morning.

Montreal police are looking into the suspicious death of a man whose body was found in a garbage bin being picked up by a city worker.

It happened just before 9 a.m. in front of a residential building on Adam Street, near the intersection of Letourneux.

The worker was collecting the garbage and emptied the bin into a garbage truck when they discovered the remains.

Police were called immediately.

A perimeter was set up in the area and police are investigating, meeting with neighbours Monday.

Sgt. Veronique Comtois says police are still trying to determine the cause of death.

She says they haven’t rule out any possibility, including an accident or criminal act.
