Montreal police say six suspects were arrested and five firearms were seized in four separate incidents this past weekend.
FIREARM UNDER SEAT
On Saturday around 4:15 a.m., patrol officers stopped a vehicle that ran a red light at the intersection of Lucien-L’Allier Street and Saint-Jacques Street downtown. As officers approached the passenger side, they spotted the butt end of a firearm under the passenger seat.
Police say the 29-year-old driver and 28-year-old passenger – who were both known to police – were arrested and taken into custody. Drugs were allegedly also seized from the vehicle.
PISTOL, KNIFE, NARCOTICS
Later that morning, around 5 a.m., patrol officers near Place Émilie-Gamelin identified a 24-year-old suspect wanted for an alleged knife attack committed last year. Police say an individual who was with the suspect fled on foot. SPVM officers caught them shortly after and found a 9 mm pistol, a folding knife and narcotics on their person.
SHOT FIRED IN MONTREAL EAST
Saturday evening around 7 p.m., police say they arrested a 32-year-old drug trafficker who they suspected fired a shot in Montreal East a few hours earlier following a drug transaction. No one was hit.
Police say three searches, including one at the suspect’s home in Longueuil, allowed investigators to seize a pistol, a replica submachine gun, ammunition and various quantities of cocaine, amphetamines and cannabis.
HANDGUN FOUND
On Sunday night, police stopped a vehicle on Crémazie Boulevard East after recognizing a person allegedly in breach of legal conditions. During the search, a handgun was found inside the suspect’s shoulder bag.
