Downtown protest to show solidarity with anti-government demonstrators in Iran

Flags with Iranian colours waved through the the air Saturday afternoon as hundreds of Montrealers rallied in the the streets of downtown.
The demonstrators came together in a show of solidarity with the people of Iran.
Iran has been engulfed in anti-government protests following the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, allegedly in the custody of Iran’s morality police. Amini was arrested for violating the country’s strict dress code.

On Saturday Montrealers chanted as they walked together from Berri-UQAM metro station to Place du Canada.
A massive banner held by protesters read “No To Islamic Republic.”
The rally was organized by “Woman, Life, Freedom,” an association formed by volunteers from diverse backgrounds whose goal is to amplify the voices of the Iranian people.
