Quebec adds 17 COVID deaths, hospitalizations continue to trend down

Quebec adding 17 more COVID deaths to its total and hospitalizations down by 38 patients.
The latest data shows the province is dealing with 398 active outbreaks and 3,609 health workers are absent from the system due to the virus.
16,974 fatalities total since the pandemic began: one in the last 24 hours, 14 added from the last week to the total, and two added from over seven days ago.
1,966 people being treated in hospital, but 660 of those admitted because of COVID-19 symptoms, the rest tested positive after being hospitalized for other ailments. 318 new entries and 356 discharges.
Of those, 50 in ICU, including 25 specifically for COVID and the rest testing positive after being admitted – stable compared to the previous day, with 27 newly admitted and 27 released.

A total of 1,051 new infections in the last 24 hours, with 187 tests self-declared by Quebecers who were positive. The overall case numbers likely an undercount as access to PCR tests is limited to specific groups and not everyone self-declare their rapid tests.
