A 19-year-old woman has been charged with attempted murder after she allegedly went to an elementary school in Terrebonne, north of Montreal, armed with a knife – reportedly to attack a colleague.
It happened around 10 a.m. on Monday at École primaire Jean-De La Fontaine. Police received a 911 call about the armed woman inside the elementary school.
The woman reportedly began working as a daycare educator at the school recently.
Terrebonne/Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines/Bois-des-Filion police report she intended to attack a specific employee at the school, but was stopped by another worker who saw the knife and told her to leave.
“The defendant cooperated and left the school, but once outside, she became aggressive and slashed the tires of vehicles parked near the school,” police said in a press release. “No students were targeted and no one was injured.”
Mégan Petitclerc was arrested near the school and appeared at the Laval courthouse Tuesday. Charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon, and mischief. She remains in custody and will undergo a psychological evaluation.
