The Laval father who was charged with the murders of his 13-year-old daughter and 11-year-old son last month, appeared in court on Thursday, via phone, for the first time since the events.

The accused, Kamaljit Arora, has been hospitalized since Oct. 17.

The Court quickly concluded that he was not able to understand the proceedings – that he seemed confused.

Legal aid lawyers tried speaking to the man, but he was unable to answer questions.

An interpreter was also called in to assist the accused.
