A pedestrian and a cyclist in critical condition after two collisions in Montreal

Two seniors, a pedestrian and a cyclist, were fighting for their lives on Wednesday evening following traffic collisions that occurred an hour apart on the island of Montreal.

The first victim, an 88-year-old pedestrian, suffered very serious injuries when she was hit around 4:25 p.m. at the corner of Jean-Talon Ouest and Hutchison, in Parc-Extension.

The woman was bleeding profusely from the impact and had trouble breathing. She was unconscious when taken to hospital and was in critical condition.

A second serious accident

Only an hour later, around 5:30 p.m., a cyclist in his 70s was struck at the corner of Marien Avenue and Sherbrooke Street, in Montreal East.

The cyclist suffered serious upper body injuries and was taken unconscious to hospital, where doctors fear for his life.
