Woman found dead in Mont-Saint-Hilaire home

Sûreté du Québec (SQ) are investigating after a woman was found dead in a Mont-Saint-Hilaire home, on Montreal’s South Shore.

She was identified by SQ as Nadine Flora Alinanynyi, 34-years-old – on Friday morning.

Authorities say a call came in around 2 p.m. Thursday and when first responders arrived at the residence on Joseph-Elzéar-Bernier street, they found the body of a woman in her 30s.

A child under the age of one was also found – but suffered no injuries. The child was taken to hospital as a precaution.

The investigation is ongoing, witnesses are being met with, and they did not release any information about a possible suspect.

On Facebook, the town of Mont-Saint-Hilaire posted: “Following the tragic event that occurred today in the Mont-Saint-Hilaire community, the Town of Mont-Saint-Hilaire and the Municipal Council would like to extend their condolences and sincere sympathies to the family and friends of the victim.”

“I am filled with a deep sense of sadness. At this time, all my thoughts are with the family. Mont-Saint-Hilaire is a small community and we can only be touched by this event that involves a woman and a young child. Violence is a complex issue, let’s all be united and make sure to denounce any abusive and threatening act or behavior,” said the statement from the mayor of Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Marc-André Guertin.

On Twitter, Quebec’s Public Security Minister François Bonnardel wrote: “I’m shocked by the tragedy at Mont-Saint-Hilaire. My thoughts are with the baby and the victim’s family. I’m following the investigation closely.”
