Quebec reinstating PEQ immigration pathway for 2 years, beginning July 2

By News Staff and The Canadian Press

As promised, Quebec’s fast-track permanent residency pathway is being reinstated.

The provincial government is reopening the Quebec Experience Program (PEQ) for two years.

Those eligible for the PEQ prior to it being scrapped last fall can begin submitting a new application July 2.

Between 8,000 and 12,000 people could be eligible, and there will be no cap, according to Immigration Minister François Bonnardel. This is far from the previous estimates from his ministry, which were around 125,000.

The CAQ closed the popular immigration program in November.

At a press conference Wednesday at the National Assembly, Bonnardel stated that these projections were very high, but that the government is now more precise about the eligibility period.

The first application period will be for those who met the eligibility requirements on November 19, 2025, when the program was closed.

The application period will open on July 2 and run until Oct. 31.

A second application period will follow, but with different criteria that are yet to be determined.
