Man who attacked 10-year-old Montreal girl on her way from school, declared high-risk offender

A man who attacked a 10-year-old Montreal girl on her way home from school for lunch last March, has been declared a high-risk offender.

Tanvir Singh will remain detained at the Philippe-Pinel psychiatric institute indefinitely.

The attack happened March 14, 2022, in Pointe-Aux-Trembles.

Police said Singh punched the girl several times in the face before dragging her – and that the assault appeared to be random.

Witnesses intervened and  the suspect was arrested shortly after. 

In July, Singh was officially declared not criminally responsible due to mental illness.
