Westmount café hit by gunfire, Montreal police investigating

Montreal police are investigating after bullet impacts were found on a café in Westmount.

The discovery happened around 3:20 a.m. after 911 calls to report an alarm system that had gone off in the building on Sainte-Catherine street west, near Gladstone Ave.

Police found the projectile impacts on the façade of Café.Gentile Westmount and its windows shattered.

A security perimeter was set up to protect the scene and K9 unit called in for a sweep.

No injuries were reported.

Police are still trying to determine the circumstances surrounding the event – and if the business itself was targeted specifically or if it was a case of stray bullets.
