Police ask for help in finding more victims of teacher charged with child pornography

Longueuil police are asking for the public’s help in finding anyone who may have been a victim of Gilles Croteau, a Montreal-area teacher arrested in connection with child pornography.

The 57-year-old private-school teacher is a resident of Saint-Hubert, in Longueuil and is a math teacher at Collège Trinité, a private high school in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville.

Longueuil police arrested him on January 24, during a cross-provincial crackdown by the Sûreté du Québec. The operation, which took place in late January, resulted in the arrest of several individuals, aged 37 to 79, residing across Quebec, in connection with child pornography.

Croteau facing serious charges

The suspended teacher, who has been banned from the campus, is facing charges of production of child pornography, transmitting, making available or distributing child pornography, and child luring.

Police say that while committing these acts, he would have used the pseudonyms Francis, Jack and Charles. Elements of the investigation have lead investigators to believe that Croteau could have had other victims.

Police are asking anyone with information on this individual to call (450) 463-7211. All information transmitted will be treated by an investigator in a confidential manner.
