SQ seeks witnesses to attempted murder on Highway 440 in Laval Wednesday

The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) is asking for the public’s help in gathering information about an attempted murder that occurred Wednesday at about 4:30 p.m. in Laval.

A person in a black Mercedes was injured while driving west on Highway 440.

Near exit 17, the exit for Highway 13, a second vehicle pulled up beside him and fired several times in the direction of the Mercedes, the SQ said.

The suspect vehicle then continued westbound on Highway 440.

The victim is believed to be Leonardo Rizzuto, the youngest son of the late Montreal mafia godfather, Vito Rizzuto, according to media reports.

      The SQ refuses to confirm the identity of the victim, but specifies that it is a man in his fifties.

      Anyone who witnessed the event, who has information or who may have images of the event, such as from a dashboard camera, is asked to contact the Sûreté du Québec’s Criminal Information Centre at 1-800-659-4264.
