A 34-year-old man pleaded guilty to manslaughter Wednesday in the 2021 death of Rebekah Harry.
The 29-year-old mother was found unconscious by police at a LaSalle apartment on March 20, 2021.
She was immediately rushed to hospital, where she died three days later.
Her death came during a wave of femicides in Quebec. In most of the deaths, between Feb 5. and March 23, a partner or ex-partner was the suspect.
Harry’s boyfriend Brandon McIntyre was arrested and initially charged with aggravated assault and breaking conditions. He was later charged with second-degree murder after her death.

On Wednesday McIntyre pleaded guilty to the reduced charge of involuntary manslaughter, avoiding a trial that was expected to begin in May.
According to the pathologist, Harry’s death was caused by at least one blow, but “more likely” several blows to the head.
“The evidence showed that the man certainly had the intention to cause injury to the woman, but not the intention to cause death,” Crown prosecutor Jasmine Guillaume told reporters.
