A young man driving a luxury vehicle with a commercial license plate was so nervous at the sight of an SQ patrol car that his reaction could not help but draw the attention of everyone on the way.
The driver, in his 20’s, was driving on Highway 440 East in Laval at approximately 6 p.m. when he surprised the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) officer who was following him by chance with a sudden and completely unexpected maneuver.
“Once past Pie-IX Blvd., the car in question suddenly cut to the right to find itself on the service road of the highway and then return in the opposite direction to the traffic on the service road and then to Pie-IX Blvd., thereby taking Route 125 North, always in the opposite direction,” explained Sgt. Audrey-Anne Bilodeau, spokesperson for the SQ in an interview.
The car then collided with a truck.
“Fortunately, the driver of the pickup truck was not injured,” said the SQ spokeswoman.
As for the driver, he had to be extracted from his vehicle and was taken to hospital, but there is no fear for his life.
The individual will eventually be met by SQ investigators.
In the meantime, there were a few clues as to why the young driver was so nervous at the sight of police.
“Burglary tools and universal keys were found in the vehicle, in contradiction with certain conditions that the driver had, whose driver’s license was also sanctioned,” said Sgt. Bilodeau.
The young man could face charges.
The SQ investigation is ongoing.
