A high school teacher was arrested on Tuesday by the Terrebonne—Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines—Bois-des-Filion intermunicipal police department, in collaboration with the Sûreté du Québec, in connection with a series of acts of a sexual nature.
Bryan Mayer, 52, appeared at the St-Jérôme courthouse on Tuesday to face charges of sexual assault, sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, voyeurism and criminal harassment of a minor.
The alleged incidents would have taken place between 2006 and recently.
Mayer worked in several educational establishments during this period. Among other things, he was a coach of several sports teams, befriending young players on whom he is alleged to have abused their trust.
The accused was also involved in several sports associations in his region, in addition to acting as a volunteer in several youth organizations in his community, said the intermunicipal police force.
Investigators have reason to believe that several other victims have not yet come forward.
The police invite anyone with information to help it progress to contact the intermunicipal police at 450-471-4121 or the Échec au crime line at 1-800-711-1800 toll-free, quoting file number TRB-220510-18.
