Suspected arson at Westmount nail salon

Montreal police (SPVM) are investigating a suspected arson in Westmount.

Authorities were called to a nail salon on fire around 5:20 a.m. on Victoria Ave. and De Maisonneuve Blvd.

SPVM report that two suspects were spotted fleeing on foot.

A perimeter was setup while firefighters put out the flames.

No arrests have been made so far.

This is the latest in a string of suspected arsons targeting businesses in the Montreal area.

Arson attack in Rosemere

North of Laval, in Rosemere, a suspect was arrested following an arson attack on a business there overnight.

Calls coming into 911 around 1 a.m. to alert police of the fire at a beauty salon on Curé-Labelle Blvd.

They say an incendiary object was located by firefighters onsite.

The rapid intervention of Thérèse-De Blainville officers led to an arrest.

The suspect will be met by investigators.

Curé-Labelle Blvd. was closed for some time to allow firefighters and police to intervene.
