Iconic steakhouse Moishes reopening in Old Montreal

By News Staff

A classic Montreal steakhouse that closed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic is reopening three years later in a new location.

The iconic Moishes, a Montreal staple founded in 1938 by Moishe Lighter, is reopening its doors Wednesday in a new space.

Replicating the institution’s famous Plateau location, the new 7,000-square-foot space in Old Montreal can now welcome 200 diners at a time.

The business received a $5 million investment for the new location, which includes a bar area, two dining rooms and a private dining room. It was designed by Montreal artists and “evokes the memories and traditions of Moishes.”

The Moishes brand was purchased by the Grandio Group in 2018.
