There are currently four COVID-19 outbreaks at Santa-Cabrini Hospital in Montreal’s East End.
The CIUSSS de l’Est-de-l’Île-de-Montréal confirmed the information and said measures have been put in place at the hospital to help contain the spread.
They include putting in places outbreak cells, stopping transfers of patients from one unit to another unless it’s intensive care, installing air purifiers in rooms, frequent COVID-9 testing, and disinfection. Staff and visitors seeing patients infected with COVID-19 must wear a N95 mask, and staff who contract COVID-19 are asked to isolate.
“Unfortunately, outbreaks of COVID-19 are still a regular occurrence in Quebec healthcare facilities. Our knowledge of this virus nevertheless guides us in the rapid and effective implementation of all necessary measures to deal with such outbreaks. It’s important to remember that our organization systematically screens all its patients,” said Catherine Dion, spokesperson with the CIUSSS de l’Est-de-l’Île-de-Montréal in an email Friday.
Montreal public health indicates five COVID-19 outbreaks in Montreal area hospitals for the June 4 – June 13 period.
