By News Staff

The driver who hit and killed a Montreal conductor last year before fleeing the scene was found guilty of several charges Monday.

Arsenije Lojovic was found guilty of dangerous driving causing death and failing to remain at the fatal crash.

Lojovic struck and killed internationally renown conductor Boris Brott in Hamilton April 5, 2022.

Brott, 78, was the conductor of the Orchestre Classique de Montréal (OCM), the founder of the Brott Music Festival and the founder and artistic director of the National Academy Ochestra of Canada.

During the trial, officers testified they received calls from residents of a driver swerving into oncoming traffic and driving erratically.

The 35-year-old accused was also found guilty of breaching a probation order.

His sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 31.
