20-year-old man injured in shooting outside Anjou arena: police

By The Canadian Press

Montreal police are investigating an overnight shooting near an arena in Anjou.

Police received several 911 calls around 12:40 a.m. about gunshots at the intersection of Chaumont Avenue and des Ormeaux Street.

Several individuals were seen fleeing in two vehicles, according to police.

“When the police arrived on the scene, they located several casings near the arena which is located on Chaumont Avenue, but when they arrived no suspect or victim was on the scene,” said Jeanne Drouin, a spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).

Police say a person was arrested near the scene, “but it is still too early to determine his involvement in the event.”

A victim showed up at a Montreal hospital about 20 minutes later: a 20-year-old man with injuries to the lower body. His life was not in danger.

Possible suspect vehicle located

Police say they located a vehicle possibly involved in the shooting near Saint-Zotique Street in the Rosemont—La Petite-Patrie borough. The vehicle had at least one projectile impact.

A large perimeter was established near the Chaumont arena.

Police say there were meeting with witnesses and are trying to find surveillance cameras in the area.
