By The Canadian Press & News Staff

An arson attack caused extensive damage to a restaurant in the Côte-des-Neiges borough, in the western part of Montreal, on Monday night.

Police reported that no one had been injured.

Around 2 a.m. telephone calls to 911 alerted the authorities to the fire that had broken out in the establishment located on Côte-des-Neiges road, near the intersection of Barclay Avenue.

When police arrived on the scene, the flames had already reached the restaurant’s interior.

Firefighters from the Montreal Fire Department arrived on the scene and managed to put out the fire.

Their observations enabled them to conclude that arson had taken place. They transmitted the information to the SPVM arson squad, which sent investigators to the restaurant.
