2 men injured in separate stabbings in Montreal’s Chinatown

Police say two men were stabbed in Chinatown, in downtown Montreal, in separate incidents within a few hours of one another.

Around 11 p.m. Tuesday, police say a man was stabbed on Saint-Urbain Street, just north of De La Gauchetière Street.

As of Wednesday morning, the victim was still in critical condition in hospital.

Montreal police have not made an arrest.

A few hours later, around 7:15 a.m. Wednesday, police say a second stabbing took place – this time at the intersection of De La Gauchetière Street and Clark Street.

SPVM officers and paramedics arrived on scene to find a 36-year-old man with an upper-body injury believed to be a stab wound.

The victim was taken to hospital.

A 42-year-old suspect was arrested near where the incident allegedly occurred.
