28-year-old man killed after being shot multiple times in downtown Montreal

MONTREAL – A young man was killed after being shot in downtown Montreal on Sunday night.

Montreal police (SPVM) say the 28-year-old man was transported to hospital in critical conditions. He later died in hospital.

No arrests have been made so far.

The incident occurred around 3:40 a.m. on Sainte-Catherine Street Ouest, near the intersection with Guy Street.

Once on the scene, SPVM officers found the victim unconscious on a sidewalk. The man had injuries to his upper body.

Bullet casings were found on the ground.

Investigators and forensic identification technicians from the SPVM were on the scene to examine the crime.

Police are also searching the surrounding area for any surveillance cameras that might have captured images that could help them solve the case.

The SPVM says this is the 19th homicide of the year in Montreal.
