A total of 60 firefighters arrived on the scene to battle the fire that started in the home’s basement and soon spread to the first floor. There was initially concern that the fire might spread to nearby homes, as well as a private school in the vicinity, but it was soon under control. No injuries were reported.
Environment Canada had issued a severe thunderstorm watch and heavy rainfall Wednesday afternoon that only lasted a few minutes.
