Thanksgiving long weekend road closures, plan ahead

The Quebec Transport Ministry says there will be road closures over the Thanksgiving long weekend in Montreal notably on Highway 20, 40 and 25. They’re urging motorists to consult Quebec 511 before taking the road.
Highway 20
Starting Friday night, work will begin on the Saint-Pierre interchange and will last until Tuesday morning.
Highway 20 eastbound will be completely closed between exit 63 – H.-Mercier Bridge and the next entrance beginning at 10:30 p.m., on Oct. 6.
A detour will be in place along Route 138 towards the Honoré Mercier Bridge, Clément Street, then return to Route 138 eastbound and Highway 20 eastbound.
Meanwhile trucks will be asked to consider taking exit 62 – 1re Avenue / Av. St-Pierre / Av. Dollar Highway 20 eastbound and Montreal-Toronto Boulevard eastbound.
The ramp from the Honoré Mercier Bridge to Dorval and the airport will also be closed starting at the same time.
The province says a detour will be in place along Highway 20 eastbound (towards downtown), then U-turn at the Angrignon interchange.
Highway 20 will also be completely closed starting at 11 p.m. on Oct. 6, and lasting until 5 a.m. on Oct. 10.
Drivers are being asked to take the detour that will be in place along 1st Avenue or by Saint-Pierre Avenue.
Those coming from the West Island and the western part of Montreal are being advised to consider taking Highway 40 for eastbound travel. The province also notes that it is possible to get to Highway 40 from the airport via Highways 520 and 13.
Highway 40
There are also overnight closures planned on Highway 40 in the Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue sector as of Oct. 6 and lasting all weekend. Highway 40 eastbound (towards Montreal) will be completely closed between Exit 41 – Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue / Boul. des Anciens-Combattants and the next entrance, according to the following schedule:
Friday 11:30 p.m. to Saturday 9 a.m;
Saturday 11:30 p.m. to Sunday 10 a.m;
Sunday 10 p.m. to Monday 5 a.m.
Motorists will be detoured via the service road.
The service road for Highway 40 westbound will also be completely closed overnight between the Morgan boulevard access and the entrance from rue des Pins beginning Oct. 6 and all weekend, according to the following schedule:
Friday 10:30 p.m. to Saturday 9 a.m;
Saturday 10:30 p.m. to Sunday 10 a.m;
Sunday 9:30 p.m. to Monday 5:30 a.m.
Motorists will be detoured via Chemin Sainte-Marie.
Highway 25
In addition, the Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité says Highway 25 will also be closed in both directions the night of Oct. 7.
The portion of the highway that will be closed towards Montreal will be between exit 90 – Aut. 20 west, route 132, La Prairie / USA, Varennes, airport P.-E.-Trudeau from Highway 20 and the entrance from Notre-Dame Street East.
Whereas the portion of the highway that will be closed towards the South Shore will be between exit 4 – Montréal (downtown) / Pont J.-Cartier and the entrance from Charron Island.
The closure will include the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel and last until the morning of Oct. 8.
The province says the closure will be to carry out inspection and concreting work.
In addition, there will be a complete closure of Souligny Avenue eastbound between Dickson and Honoré-Beaugrand streets during the same time frame.
